Lahori Kebabish

Another Asian fast food cafe located in Cheetham, Lahori Kebabish has gone through a number of owners and or management staff over the past 5 years or so. Fortunately this hasn’t had an impact on the quality of the food served here.

Popular for its charcoal grill Lahori Kebabish makes some of the grilled food around. The lamb chops are to die for.

Quite often when I visit Lahori Kebabish I will order the mixed grill, a bargain at just £11.99. A hot plate packed full with lamb chops, chicken wings, seekh kebabs, chicken tikka and lamb tikka pieces, served on a bed of grilled onions; order with a couple of fresh nan breads or chappatis and there’s plenty of food for two people.

The curries here are very good too, although they can be a bit oily. Whenever I have been with Asian friends they usually drain the oil off with a spoon and napkin. Highlights include, lamb curry off the bone, fish curry masala and nihari. In most restaurants nihari is usually reserved for a Sunday treat but it is available Saturday and Sunday at Lahori Kebabish. Nihari is a deliciously smooth flour based stew of lamb on the bone and a myriad of spices, it is garnished with fresh chilli and ginger and usually served with nan bread. Nihari is cooked for hours overnight making the lamb incredibly tender and juicy; believe me when I say

Nihari is one of the tastiest dishes you will ever eat.

There isn’t much seating in the cafe but they have recently had a refurbishment increasing the capacity slightly. Like most of these types of Indian cafe/restaurants, sharing a table is not uncommon.
