Chappati Corner Cheetham Hill

Cheetham Hill is home to hundreds of cash and carry’s and trade stores and is also one of the largest Asian communities in Greater Manchester, it therefore stands to reason that there will be a lot of Indian, Pakistani and Punjabi cafe’s and restaurants. Some come and go in the blink of an eye whilst others have been around for a long time, one of which is Chappati Corner, situated on the corner of Cheetham Hill Road and Derby Street.

There is not a great deal of seating space inside and quite often you will have to share a table with other diners, not great for the socially awkward or unsociable. I visited at around 1pm and there was a constant stream of customers for both takeaway and sitting in.

Chappati Corner offer a large selection of freshly made home style curries, suitable for carnivores and vegetarians alike; from mixed vegetable, chick peas, daal, cauliflower, spinach and chick peas to fish, chicken and lamb, either on or off the bone. There are also specials prepared each day, on my visit on a Friday, the  the special dish was Lamb Kofta Curry. With so much variety it was difficult to make a selection, especially when the man serving lifted the lid of each curry for me to see and smell. It was a tough choice but the mixed vegetable curry and the lamb kofta looked too good not to try, so I had both served on a bed of rice.

Sprinkled with chopped green chilli and coriander the food arrived at my table within minutes and was piping hot. Both curries were delicious and the rice was light and fluffy. I am so glad I was only passing through Cheetham Hill when I stopped in here, if I worked nearby I could see myself visiting this place multiple times per week.
